Student loan debt is a sword hanging over the necks of 40 million Americans. Currently, the average student debt sits at over $25,000 per student. And by the way, that’s just a starting point. Most student loan amounts are much higher. That’s disturbing, unfair, and a problem in need of solutions.
Imagine being 23, having received your degree, looking at your future, and seeing massive debt in excess of 25,000 dollars ahead of you? Couple that with a dearth of well paying jobs, a surplus of low skilled part time jobs, and you have a recipe for disaster.
Our country faces a monumental crises. We’ve turned college into a mostly “for profit” enterprise, and the students and our society are worse off because of it. We’re financially crippling an entire generation, and are in danger of turning them into a permanent debtor class.
The question is-What are we going to do about it before it’s too late? The following two minute clip presents some disturbing facts about the student loan crises. The video is from 2012, so those numbers you see in it-they’ve grown even higher.
